As I mentioned during the year-end mountain bike conference meeting in October, the SECCC is looking for an assistant conference director to help serve the conference. I originally started in the fall of 2008 as the mountain bike conference director. Since then, I have taken over road duties for Dave Brown, and additionally have seen the cyclocross season created and expanded into a legitimate “3rd season”, as well as the conference’s first dive into track cycling. With all of these additional weekends required of the conference director, I simply cannot attend them all and still serve the SECCC to the best of my ability. I think the best direction is to follow the lead of most of the other collegiate conferences by appointing an Assistant Conference Director.
Ideally, the person filling the new position would be willing to split the number of weekends with me during the three primary seasons by traveling to the events and being able to answer questions, officiate if necessary, and help with overall organization. The position is a volunteer role (as is the Conference Director role) that comes with a small budget to manage over the course of the season. But most importantly, the person must have a passion for collegiate cycling.
If you or someone else you know might be interested, feel free to send inquiries to me at nhaslick@usacycling.org. I can also answer any questions you might have about the role.
Thank you,
Nathan Haslick
SECCC Director
